Hormone Optimization

Due to the demands of the external environment and the gradual wear and tear of the aging process; there are some physiologic changes that can occur within the body causing symptoms of chronic fatigue, weakness, loss of muscle tone, osteoporosis, weight gain, change in skin texture and tone, diminished libido, depression, etc. These symptoms may be a result of hormone deficiencies that help regulate the body’s normal function. Detecting and optimizing these hormones may help improve some of these symptoms.

Medical Acupuncture

This form of complementary medicine is one of the oldest and safest. The classical Chinese explanation is that of energy flowing through the body via specific channels or meridians. Disease states, both physical and psychological, occur as a result of an obstruction of flow in these energy meridians. The specially designed acupuncture needles are inserted into specific points along the meridian(s) to unblock this energy flow thereby facilitating improvement of the disease states. Acupuncture has been used for conditions such as arthritis, depression, headaches and other chronic pain syndromes, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, various digestive and pelvic/gynecologic disorders, etc. It has even been shown to safely help reduce the craving of tobacco, alcohol, as well as other addictive substances.

Nutrition

"You are what you eat". Certain foods can cause the release of harmful chemicals and neurotransmitters into our bodies affecting our overall mood and physical state. Regularly consuming incorrect foods while following an energetic lifestyle is comparable to trying to walk up a downward going escalator to reach your goal. A nutritionist can customize an eating plan just for you and your lifestyle, identifying food addictions and other pitfalls in the road to health. One on one sessions or group counseling are available.

Weight Managment

Decades of research have revealed that being overweight or obese has many harmful effects on the mind and body. Some of the conditions associated with obesity include heart disease, strokes, diabetes, hypertension, depression, arthritis, cancer, etc. We realize that gaining / inability to lose weight as well as maintaining a healthy weight are a result of multiple factors. It is not just about what we place into our mouth but also why. Your weight management team will consist of a physician, nutritionist, stress therapist / stress management coach, and fitness instructor who will work together with you to help safely and effectively lose weight and permanently keep it off. Your physician can help determine if there is an underlying condition that is contributing to the weight gain.
